VisionID Easter Collection for Crumlin’s Children’s Hospital
Following the success of last year, VisionID once again decided to take part in the Fight It Like a Child Easter Egg Collection.
Fight It Like A Child:
The Fight It Like a Child Easter Egg Collection is an annual initiative for which all donations collected go directly to the patients and parents of the children in St. John’s Cancer Ward in Crumlin’s Children’s Hospital. The Easter Collection for St. John’s Cancer Ward was started three years ago by Elizabeth Furlong and her fiancé Richard Bolger. Elizabeth and Richard started the Fight It Like A Child group in August 2015, and since then have done a lot of great work not only for St. John’s Cancer Ward but for other Children’s Cancer charities.
In 2018 VisionID took part in The Fight It Like a Child Easter Egg Collection for the first time, the collection was a huge success so there was no doubt that this year VisionID would once again support the initiative.
VisionID opened a donation point within the office in early April and invited employees and friends of VisionID to contribute to the collection. The guidelines for the collection are as follows, people were welcomed to donate Easter Eggs, puzzles and books for the Children, but also tea bags, coffee, biscuits and hot cups for the parent’s room. The response was once again incredible with over 90 Easter Eggs, 72 packets of biscuits, 216 quick soup cups and 1160, as well as much more including games and jigsaws all donated.
These were then dropped to Elizabeth and Richard, who along with none other than the Easter Bunny himself delivered the donations to Crumlin’s Children’s Hospital.
Following the drop off organiser of Fight It Like A Child, Elizabeth Furlong took to social media to express her gratitude, “What a truly amazing Easter Egg collection and delivery for St Johns ward Crumlin. Today the Easter bunny dropped into St John's ward to bring Easter eggs and smiles to the children of both inpatients and the day ward. The number of donations this year was amazing truly amazing and we couldn't have done it with our amazing drop off from VisionID thanks so much everyone from the bottom of our hearts”.
VisionID would like to thank Elizabeth and Richard for all of their hard work and for letting us be a part of it. VisionID would like to also thank everyone who took part in the collection, for your efforts and generosity. And to all of the staff, patients and parents in St. John’s Cancer Ward we hope that you had a very happy Easter.
